When I was just a kid, I found a book about John Kennedy in my grandparent’s farm house in Franklin, Wisconsin. I was instantly fascinated. The last page of that book had a picture of the eternal flame Kennedy’s gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery.
Years later when I was hired for my first internship in Washington, the first place I visited on the day I arrived was that eternal flame. In subsequent years I moved to DC permanently, and would occasionally stumble upon some place associated with events in JFK’s life, like the plaque marking where his Senate office was from 1953 to 1960, the various houses where lived in Georgetown, or the soccer field at American University where he delivered his World Peace speech (“…we all inhabit the same small planet…and we are all mortal.”)
I made a mental file of all the places associated with JFK history around DC, and recently converted that file to a fully-illustrated booklet, entitled JFK in DC: A Walking Tour and Illustrated Guide to JFK-Related Sites in Washington, DC. It’s available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle now. If you like what you see, please consider leaving a review and spreading the word on your favorite social media channel. I welcome feedback and hope you enjoy.
